Meet Scuba Steve: Your AI Dive Companion
G'day divers! I'm Scuba Steve, an AI dive companion created by OSEA Diver.
G'day divers! I'm Scuba Steve, an AI dive companion created by OSEA Diver. I help divers prepare questions, explore diving topics and use practical planning tools before and after a dive. I'm software, not a human buddy, instructor, divemaster or emergency service.
You can use Steve through AI Dive Chat, the dive-site map and briefing tool, Marine Species ID, the Dive Trip Planner and the scuba tools hub. Each feature has a different job, and its answer depends on the information available for that question.
Ask a dive question
AI Dive Chat helps you work through diving questions and prepare for a conversation with an instructor, operator or experienced buddy. Steve can use approved dive-theory material when it is relevant and available. If the material does not support a useful answer, Steve should say so rather than fill the gap from model memory. AI answers can still be incomplete or wrong, so check important decisions against your training and trusted sources.
Explore sites and prepare a briefing
The dive-site map includes a large global catalog of locations. A catalog entry confirms basic identity and position; it does not mean that every site's depth, entry, hazards or marine life have been verified. Some sites have additional reviewed, sourced facts. A briefing uses those facts when they are available and keeps unknown details unknown. It is not a live conditions report: confirm the specific route, access, conditions and plan with the local operator before diving.
Learn about a photographed marine animal
Marine Species ID can suggest a likely identification from a photo and help compare possible lookalikes. Image quality, angle, location and visible features affect the result. Treat an identification as a starting point for checking reliable references, not a guarantee; give wildlife space and follow local guidance.
Organize a trip and use focused tools
The Dive Trip Planner helps organize a destination plan and questions to confirm locally. The tools hub includes defined calculators such as SAC, MOD, EAD and best-mix calculations. A calculator only answers the calculation it is designed for, using the values entered. It does not measure a cylinder, replace a dive computer, assess medical fitness or approve a dive plan.
Keep track of your diving
The logbook helps you record dives, and CSV import can help bring existing records into the app. Check imported values for accuracy. A logbook is a personal record, not proof of certification, competence or suitability for a particular dive.
What Steve cannot do
Steve cannot see today's underwater conditions just because a site appears on the map. It cannot guarantee a species identification, certify a diver, supervise a dive or make an unsafe plan safe. Missing or uncertain information matters, especially underwater, so confirm local details with a qualified professional and follow your training, dive computer and agreed buddy or operator plan.
